New Maitland Interchange Will Improve Safety and Traffic Flow

One of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) top priorities in Central Florida is the Ultimate revitalization of Interstate 4, and the current work to stabilize a retention area located within the I-4 and Maitland Boulevard interchange is preparation for just that. The stabilization will allow crews to widen I-4 and reconfigure the interchange as part of FDOT’s Ultimate I-4 improvements.

On Thursday, May 28, the public will have an opportunity to learn more about the Maitland Boulevard Interchange Project and to speak with FDOT representatives about the plan. The meeting is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Altamonte Springs Hampton Inn, 151 North Douglas Avenue, Altamonte Springs, Florida.

FDOT is committed to safe and efficient travel throughout Central Florida. The Maitland Boulevard Interchange Project includes new and reconfigured I-4 entrance and exit ramps as well as the elimination of some existing traffic signals. Other modifications include:

• Direct access from westbound I-4 to Lake Destiny Drive

• A pedestrian walkway over I-4 south of Maitland Boulevard

• New Maitland Boulevard bridge over Lake Destiny Drive

• New Maitland Boulevard bridge over Keller Road

• Realignment of Keller Road at Maitland Boulevard

• Extension of Lake Lucien Drive to South Keller Road

• Extension of Southhall Lane to South Keller Road

• Storm water drainage improvements
