TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY RAY LAHOOD ANNOUNCES HSR FUNDING |
U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has announced the second round of federal high speed rail funding totaling $2.4 billion. The big winners include California, Florida, Iowa and Michigan with smaller awards going to other states.
In Florida, construction jobs will begin in 2011 and on November 2, Hillsborough County voters will decide if a sales tax increase will support transportation improvements that would link the region to the high speed rail station planned for Downtown Tampa. |
