ILLINOIS IS THE FIRST STATE TO BEGIN HIGH SPEED RAIL CONSTRUCTION |
Illinois' Governor Pat Quinn says the initial $98 million project upgrading 90 miles of Union Pacific track to carry trains traveling 110 miles-per-hour will create 900 direct and indirect jobs.
In other news, there are reports that negotiations with freight railroads that own 90 percent of the tracks planned for high speed rail are slowing things down and potentially adding to the cost. |
