U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announces the federal grant of $66.6 million to Central Florida beginning the first phase of Florida's high speed rail.
- This is the first part of the $1.25 billion grant to Florida
- LaHood commended Florida and California as models of regional cooperation
- 30 rail-related businesses have committed to establish or expand bases of operation in the U.S.
